Book Proposal Writing Course FAQ

Q: When does the course start and end?

A: The course starts Monday, February 19, 2018, and ends Monday, March 26, 2018. The hour-long calls will take place each Monday at 8 pm EST (5 pm PST). The recording of each call will be available within 24-hours of the live event.

Q: What will I learn in the course?

A: This is a comprehensive non-fiction book proposal writing course. By the end of our time together you will have a finished non-fiction book proposal and query letter. I will also personally read, edit and provide comments on your completed book proposal. Click here to see a week-by-week outline of the course.

Q: My non-fiction book isn’t finished yet, should I focus on my proposal or finish the book first?

A: Every book is different. I sold my memoir, “The Yellow Envelope,” on a proposal with sample chapters. Even if you ultimately decide to write your entire book before querying, writing your proposal now can be extremely helpful. (We’ll discuss the pros and cons of each during the course.)

Q: If I take this course will I definitely find an agent and land a book deal?

A: I can’t guarantee that your book proposal will land you an agent or a book deal. There are a thousand factors that determine whether a book will be successful or not and it’s a finicky market to boot. What I can guarantee is that together we can craft a book proposal that will get you the best possible chance of catching the eye of an agent and, eventually, a publishing house.

Q: I will miss one or all of the calls. Can I still access the course content?

A: Yes. All live calls will be recorded and accessible to all course members via a link that will be emailed out within 24-hours.

Q: What is it like to work with you? Can I read some testimonials from other clients?

A: Of course you can! Click here to read testimonials from other writers I’ve worked with.

Q: I’m writing a novel, is this course for me?

A: This course is for memoir and other non-fiction writers. Novel writing is a different beast with its own set of rules. However, if you’d like to sign up here to receive updates on upcoming writing retreats, courses and classes, I may offer support for fiction writers in the future.

Q: How much does the course cost?

A: The six-week course costs $700. If you would like to pay for the course in two smaller payments of $350 each please email me to work out details.

Q: I’m on the fence. Can I ask you a few questions?

A: Sure! Contact me and we can set up a 15-minute call to discuss the course and answer your questions.

Q: I’m in! How do I sign up for the course?

A: Sign up via the button below. Once you’ve paid you’ll receive a welcome email from me, so stay tuned.

A: Absolutely, I’d love to work with you one-on-one. Email me using the subject line: 1-1 Book Proposal and I will get back to you with details.

Q: I already have a proposal, but I need feedback and editing. Can you help me with that?

A: Yes. I offer hour-long calls that include a detailed review of your proposal with track changes and comments. The cost for a proposal review and an hour-long call is $225. Email me to schedule our call.
