Shop until you drop at the Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is no regular shopping mall. To start, it’s the world’s most visited shopping complex (it hosted over 80 million visitors in 2014) and boasts over 1,200 retail stores and over 200 restaurants and cafes. Inside, shoppers will find a tree-lined, open-air streetscape, an indoor theme park, a 2,800-seat movie theater, and Olympic size ice rink and the world famous Dubai aquarium and underwater zoo. If it sounds like you could spend your entire vacation at the mall you are right- there’s a 5-star hotel right there at the mall to accommodate the most die-hard of shoppers.

Hit the slopes at the Ski Dubai Snow Park

The first indoor ski resort in the Middle East, the Ski Dubai Snow Park is a 3,000 square meter complex and the largest indoor snow park in the world. Opened in 2005, visitors come from all over the globe to ski down the 60-meter “mountain” or test their skills on one of the five ski runs (there’s a beginner slope and more technical runs as well). Snowboarders can practice their tricks in the freestyle zone and families will have fun zipping down the bobsled runs and tobogganing hills. And if you didn’t think to pack your ski gear for a warm weather trip to Dubai- don’t worry. The Ski Dubai Snow Park offers guests winter clothing and gear.

Check out the view from the world’s tallest building

For visitors that don’t have a fear of heights, a stop at the Burj Khalifa- the world’s tallest building (2,717 feet tall to be exact)- is in store. Clocking in at 163 floors tall, the building has not only won the title of world’s tallest, but also boasts records such as the highest number of stories in the world, the highest occupied floor in the world and the elevator with the longest travel distance in the world. On level 148 of the building, visitors can check out the highest outdoor observatory in the world and relax in luxury loungers while taking in the impressive view. The “At The Top” Observatory a little lower down (level 124) has a 360-degree indoor observatory and boasts floor-to-ceiling glass walls and unobstructed views of the city, desert and ocean.

These are just a few examples of the impressive and outrageous attractions in Dubai, a city that exists on the cutting edge of the modern world.
