25 Chasing Your Dreams Quotes

by Kim on May 25, 2011 · 26 comments

I’m a geeky quote junkie who’s been collecting my favorite quotes in a journal since the mid-90′s (God I’m getting old, that seems like just yesterday).  Here’s a collection of 25 chasing your dreams quotes I turn to when I need a little inspiration.  I hope you love them as much as I do.

25 chasing your dreams quotes

1.  “Have patience.  All things are difficult before they become easy.” – Unknown

2.  “You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm.” -Colette

3.  “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs.  Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go and do that.  Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” -Unknown

4.  “Be what you are.  This is the first step towards becoming better than you are.” -J.C. Hare and A.W. Hare

5.  “If your success is not on your own terms, if it looks good to the world but does not feel good in your heart, it is not success at all.” -Anna Quindlen

6.  “I have lots of things to prove to myself.  One is that I can live my life fearlessly.” – Oprah Winfrey

7.  “The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.” -Ben Stein

8.  “When it’s over, I want to say: All my life I was a bride married to amazement.” -Mary Oliver

9.  “If one tells the truth, one is sure, sooner or later, to be found out.” – Oscar Wilde

10.  “Life is a difficult assignment.  We are fragile creatures, expected to function at high rates of speed, and asked to accomplish great and small things each day.  These daily activities take enormous amounts of energy.  Most things are out of our control.  We are surrounded by danger, frustration, grief, and insanity, as well as love, hope, ectasy, and wonder.  Being fully human is an exercise in humility, suffering, grace, and great humor.  Things and people all around us die, get broken, or are lost.  There is no safety or guarantees.

The way to accomplish the assignment of truly living is to engage freely, richly, and deeply in the living of your dreams.  We are made to dream and to live those dreams.” – SARK

11.  “Follow your bliss.” -Joseph Campbell

12.  “I have a notion that if you are going to be spiritually curious, you better not get cluttered up with too many material things.” -Mary Oliver

13.  “There are times in life when, instead of complaining, you do something about your complaints.” -Rita Dove

14.  “Listen– are you breathing just a little, and calling it life?” -Mary Oliver

15.  “There is nothing you can buy, achieve, own, or rent that can fill up that hunger inside for a sense of fulfillment and wonder.” -Anne Lamott

16.  “You simply cannot give to the world all that you have to give to the world if you do not remain true to your own “selfish” desires.  You have a unique set of precious values that can only be fulfilled by pursuing what drives you the most: your passions and dreams.  Could Thomas Edison have tended to the downtrodden as Mother Teresa did?  Could Albert Einstein have preached salvation as Martin Luther King Jr. did?  Could Abraham Lincoln have built cars like Henry Ford?  Always, the masses benefit from the individuals who insist on marching to the beat of their own drummer.” -Mike Dooley

17.  “There comes a time when one must risk everything or sit forever with ones dreams.” -Unknown

18.  “Figure out what your purpose is in life, what you really and truly want to do with your time and your life; then be willing to sacrifice everything and then some to achieve it.  If you are not willing to make the sacrifice, then keep searching.” -Quintina Ragnacci

19.  “I have accepted fear as a part of life- specifically the fear of change.  I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: turn back.” -Erica Jong

20.  “You will never find time for anything.  You must make it.” -Charles Buxton

21.  “How does one become a butterfly?” she asked pensively.  “You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.” -Trina Paulus

22.  “You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestation of your own blessings.” -Elizabeth Gilbert

23.  “First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.” -Epictetus

24.  “Once in awhile it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told.” -Alan Keightley

25.  “Just keep clear mind, go straight ahead, try, try, try for ten thousand years.” -Soen Sa Nim

The one I just put up on m y dream board:
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines.

Sail away from the safe harbor.

Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore.

Dream.

Discover.

Tijmen, that is a favorite one of mine as well. I 100% believe it. I hate it when people say “I’ll try.” Seriously, if the thing pertains to yourself either you do it or you don’t do it. Period.

Just a little off of the beaten track possibly, yet, we are frequently asked why should anybody want to use life quotes. What I’m saying is, just how essential can such quotes be? All things considered, insprational quotes are just phrases.

Well typically, you could utilize life quotes for a number of reasons. Utilizing a collection of influential quotes in almost any media content will portray you as being an very well informed, clever, intelligent plus respected personality. Dropping a few life quotes causes you to seem like some kind of super wizard. Life quotes gives any kind of prepared document a solid atmosphere of trustworthiness as well as recognition. Regardless of whether within a college dissertation, a school dissertation, any fascinating post, or even a company statement, very carefully chosen lifes quotes will definitely bring that bit of class.

And then, should you be asked to present a talk, or even a good oration of any sort, starting by using uplifting quotes may get interest, or even entertain, or else astound any listeners like nearly nothing similar could. Everybody from high school debating groups up to nation presidents make use of life quotes. Therefore, if you happen to fail to use quotations, you miss out big-time. The very best of British luck to you. Thank you for allowing me to share with you this rave.

Appreciate the representation of your blog, incidentally. In the infamous words of our own beloved Arnold S, “I’ll be back” (if you’ll have me) :)

I’m a quote junkie too! I used to keep them on little post-it notes scattered around my desk and fridge. Then I put them on 3×5 cards, then in a notebook. Now they’re everywhere, but I have started to collect them under Inspiration on my site. (It was ‘Daily Inspiration’ but I wasn’t keeping up. :) )
I love the tag line of your blog.
best, rc

Thanks Robyn. I have an “inspiration” page on here too with some of my favorite quotes. I also have a “quote book” where I compile them all. I read it all the time.
